Cecil Hobbes, an ex-PE teacher disgraced and looked down on in his hometown, has a new partner: Sir Valorous King, a knight of the realm, once a child of prophecy, and Cecil’s stalker.

A few months into their relationship, Cecil finally convinces Valorous to see a therapist, on the condition that Cecil attend one himself.

Majok leaned back in his seat to look at Cecil, his hands loosely clasped over his lap. It was slightly warm in the room, which was a relief compared to the cold dampness outside, and Cecil had hung up his coat.

“How’s the week been?” asked Majok.

“It’s been okay,” said Cecil. “Lad’s been sleeping pretty well this week, which means I’ve been sleeping better.”

“Does Sir Valorous wake you often?”
